I think indeed the best members will stay, not that the other ones are no good
But we have to see what Fil has to do for this community… A great community that we have… This is for and from everyone… Fil spends a lot of time in this… And paying Fil for his work will make this community and this site even better!! I’m sure!! I follow Fil sinds the beginning, it was great then, but it becomes better and better!! Thanks Fil for your work and dedication!! Just ended the book “Why AC/DC matters?” from Anthony Bozza… It said everything!!

Good tune. Hopefully I can convince the parents to use their cards to pay for the website… I think this site is worth paying for, and frankly, I wouldn’t care if it was like $10-15 a month. If the website was able to make Fil use it as his job instead of whatever he’s doing now, that’d be great. Living the dream, so to speak. It’s just being a teenager I can’t pay for it (don’t have paypal/credit/etc), although with persuasion I might be able to convince the parents.

Yeah. Couple of years and we won’t have this problem. haha.
I think if I can’t get a subscription the thing I’ll miss most is a good audience for my music; it’s hard to find people who like rock to see if it’s any good. I’d also wish that Fil would see some of it, but that doesn’t ever seem to happen.

My suggestion
For Viewing
We break up the user videos into subgroups such as Latest, Performance, Gear and Other (funny or random stuff)
Then have the option to “filter” out by User, Band, Song ect
Then View
For Uploading
Pre selection criteria before upload
for instance on “Performance”
Select the appropriate subgroup it should reside (performance)
Select which Band
Select which Song ect
Description ie gear used
Then Upload

Btw, did you know that if a user has an active member profile page, the videos uploaded by that member will be shown on the members profile page?

Behaviour changed probably a bit since I checked that the last time:
Every member has his own profile page, its always clickable from the “Members online” field in the upper right.
To get it clickable from a comment too, just change your personal homepage in your profile to the profile page.
Schema is: “http://www.solodallas.net/author/_username_/” where “_username_” is your login name here. For you it would be:
http://www.solodallas.net/author/anthonyportlock/ .

Thats a pretty good song you chose there fil, which is suprising because I can’t really stand slash anymore. I wasn’t a big gnr fan either but they did have some stuff that was pretty good. Slash is like a lost soul today, he just shows up anywhere, he always on music award shows that have nothing to do with him like his pointless performance at the superbowl this past year.

And why you dont like gnr? In my opoinion appetite for destruction album is superb! Although I hate all those ballads, and what was happening with the band when time was passing.

I never liked them, though I did try (I bought two or three original albums of theirs and studied them). The sound, I never grew to like it. Too…. fuzzy? As in, too much pre-amp gain sound. Additionally, but this is important to me especially growing older, I didn’t like the “people” in the band. The attitude. I could say I am relieved to understand that Slash and Rose don’t have a good relationship, as I do like Slash now, the current Slash. These among the first reasons that come to mind? With the due respect, naturally

Hey fil, I think its great that youd only be charging a few $ a month and not something rediculous, but for the first few months, why not charge just 1$ to see if u can keep most of the people here? If it works, that $7,500 a month if everyone stays here, but im not sure wat u wanna make money wise….just an idea

Maybe, but it seems to me the challenge is to get people to go over the pay vs. no pay hurdle – whether it’s $1 or few $ per month may not make a big impact, and people may get upset with a hike later on (ask netflix
BTW, Fil, would the thing you mentioned about dealing copyrights could be somehow extended to members? Oh well, will wait for the details
